Frequently Asked Questions
Integrative Psychotherapy Services
What are your session rates?
Integrative Psychotherapy with Christine Slomski, MS, LPC:
$175 / session. Extended sessions available.
Do you take insurance?
Calm Hearts Counseling is a private-pay provider. In working with a private pay provider, you reap the benefits of maintaining privacy and confidentiality of your medical records (we are not required to “diagnose” you in order for you to receive services), in addition to having the freedom and ease of receiving flexible care. Many insurance-based mental health coverages limit the number of sessions available to consumers per year, and require detailed information regarding mental health records.
Can I use my out-of-network benefits for private pay services?
Clients who actively engage in ongoing services may request a superbill (medical receipt) to submit to their insurance company for possible reimbursement for out-of-pocket services. It is the client’s responsibility to contact their insurance provider and understand their plan’s out-of-network benefits beforehand. We do not assist with the reimbursement process beyond providing a Superbill.
How long will I be in therapy?
In essence, this varies per each person’s unique history and intentions for therapy. Because no two people are alike, at Calm Hearts Counseling we cater to each individual’s needs using neuro-experiential approaches that get to the heart of healing.
We start by meeting weekly, with regular check-in’s to ensure our work is supportive to your intentions for healing, growth and positive change,.
When can I schedule my appointments?
In our initial appointment, we will select a day and time to meet each week on a recurring basis. This ensures you are secured a time to meet on a regular basis that supports your therapeutic goals.
Who do you work with?
Calm Hearts Counseling supports adult women across the life span who are committed to engaging in the journey of meaningful, lasting change.
Can I just come see you once-in-awhile?
Therapy is an investment of both time and finances, and it’s understandable you may want to space out sessions or attend only when feeling prompted, or only when something feels urgent. However, infrequent sessions and inconsistent attendance slows progress and limits outcomes, which ultimately makes therapy less effective—and more costly—over time.
At Calm Hearts Counseling, sessions are held weekly in order to build a strong foundation and support successful outcomes.
Do you offer in-person or virtual sessions?
Sessions are in-person at our tranquil offices in the Dobson Ranch Corridor in Mesa, Arizona (Dobson/US-60). Telehealth (video) counseling appointments are conveniently available for Arizonans, state-wide.
What is your cancellation policy?
We maintain 48 hours’ advance notice, excluding weekends and holidays, if you wish to change your appointment time. After this time, clients are responsible for the full fee of their session as the appointment time is reserved specifically for you. For example, if you have a Monday appointment at 1:00 PM, any changes must be made before 1:00 PM on the preceding Thursday.
To avoid late cancellation fees, telehealth and phone sessions are always conveniently available if a last-minute scheduling issue arises or if you’re feeling unwell on the day of your appointment.
Am I able to integrate my faith values or spiritual views into therapy?
Absolutely! Faith formation and spiritual values are deeply personal and unique to each individual. Whether spirituality or faith is a vital part of your life, if you are navigating a faith transition, or you have experienced religious wounding, or perhaps religion or faith have no bearing on your journey, we are equipped and available to honor your preferences and requests.
If I’m working with a psychiatric or medical provider, are you able and willing to coordinate with them?
Absolutely! With a signed Release of Information (ROI), we are happy to coordinate care with additional providers as part of your overarching well-being, ensuring that you receive the highest level or coordinated care.
