Year’s End: Liminal Space
When we’re walking in the in-between…
We’re just days from a new year. Amidst the “holiday therapy rush,” gatherings, and the Valley’s busy event calendar, I’m noticing a quiet pull to go inward—to pause and pay attention. While the season encourages activity, nature whispers: be still.
Lately I’ve been thinking about liminal space—the in-between places that can feel uneasy, ambiguous, or disorienting. These thresholds invite us to reflect on where we’ve been and where we’re headed. They offer a pause for review, release, and preparation.
Liminal space can be literal—a hallway between rooms—or metaphorical, like dawn to dusk, or the transitions between life stages. Psychologically, it can feel untethering: no longer anchored to what’s familiar, yet not fully sure of what comes next. It’s a space of discomfort and vulnerability, but also possibility.
So, how might we enter liminal space this season?
I’m choosing to befriend it—with curiosity, reflection, and reverence. To look back on 2025’s gifts, opportunities, lessons, and “blessons,” and to gently release what no longer needs to be carried forward. Welcoming the new often asks us to let go.
So, I’m checking in with you:
What does a season of waiting feel like for you?
What are you ready to release to make room for what’s emerging?
What gifts or lessons (or “blessons”!) will you bring into the year ahead?
Wherever you find yourself this season—planning, celebrating, anticipating, grieving, or simply moving through—may this season offer presence, gratitude for how far you’ve come, and curiosity for what lies ahead.
Wishing you clarity and gratitude for what was, and openness for what will be.
See you in the New Year!
